In 2009 Poland has issued 30 thousand official work permits for foreigners, 60% more than in 2008. However, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Russians, inhabitants of Moldova and Georgia can work in the country for six months a year without official permission - only on the basis of statements drawn up at district offices of labor. The community service agencies in Poland informs that in 2009 were issued 189,3 thousand of such statements. This is six times more than in 2008. Most of these permits were issued to Ukrainians - 96%. Typically, such permits are issued for work in agriculture, construction, food sector, hotel sector and domestic work.
Foreigners who work at the official settlement employed in wholesale trade, finance, real estate, education and health.
"The Polish labor market feels a growing shortage of workers. Polish specialists (welders, electricians) employ themselves abroad because their work is paid more. In Poland, in their turn, come foreigners, who are often more loyal and hardworking. They tend to work for lower salary, "- says Monica Ulatovska, representing the community service agencies.
Ukrainians - the largest group among all migrant workers in Poland. In 2009, the work permit was received by 9,5 thousand of our fellow citizens. Followed by residents of China (4,3 thousand), Vietnam (2,5 thousand people), Belarusian, Turks, Armenians, Moldovans and Russians.
