08.07.09 Council of the European union has approved a so-called visa code.
Now for receiving the Schengen visa for no more than three months it is necessary to pay 60 euros and to hand over prints of fingers, as reported in message of EU Council.
According to the document, the Schengen visa for persons from 12 years and older will cost 60 ˆ, for children from 6 till 11 years - 35 ˆ.
Free of charge visa will be given to children younger than six years, to the schoolchildren leaving country for studying. Free visa will also give for scientists and representatives of the noncommercial organizations participating in seminars, conferences and sports or cultural events.
Besides these changes, new standards of consular services rendering are entered, thus the decision on their delivery should be accepted within 15 calendar days.
Also consular officers has to take fingerprints and photos of the persons who have requested visas, for the visa information System of the Schengen zone. In case of refusal officer should explain its reason. Besides in this case it will be possible to submit the appeal.
The visa code of EU will come into force in 20 days after its publication. We shall remind, now the Schengen visa for citizens of Ukraine costs 35 ˆ.
