25.08.09 Nurses are in demand

According to Australia\'s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC), while there has been a significant drop in temporary skilled overseas immigration due to the global economic slowdown, nurses are still in demand. Temporary immigration applications under the Subclass 457 visa program for registered nurses rose by 18 percent, the only occupation to see an increase in applications. Applications as a whole dropped 11 percent in 2008-09 over the previous year.
