03.12.09 Switzerland to simplify issuance of visas for Ukrainians
The Ukrainian-Swiss negotiations have begun in Kyiv on Wednesday, during which the parties agreed on a text of the draft Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Swiss Federal Council on the simplification of visa issuance.
As the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports, at urging of the Ukrainian side the adjusted with the Swiss draft agreement will be extended to a wider range of citizens of Ukraine who could benefit from visa advantages compared to the existing agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
In particular, this applies in addition to the spokespersons of nongovernmental organizations and religious communities. In addition, the draft agreement contains the obligation of the Swiss consular offices to provide applicants with a visa application form in the Ukrainian language. If authorities have refused to issue a visa – they are to provide applicants with a written justification of the reasons for such denial.
The parties agreed that this agreement will be prepared for signing in early 2010, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
